A Childhood in Television

Sean Michael Kyer is an actor from Vancouver, British Columbia. He started his career at two years old.

His credits begin with a television appearance on V in 2010, followed by guest roles on Fringe, Alcatraz, Supernatural andTimeless, a recurring role as Sam Cameron in Continuum, two seasons as Albert Bickley in When Calls the Heart, and a number of television films.

His main role was Agent Oscar in PBS's Odd Squad: the squad's scientist, in charge of the lab and its gadgets, across fifty-one episodes and a feature-length film. He has said it was the part he most enjoyed, because the producers, writers and directors let him shape the character. It won a Leo Award and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy and a Canadian Screen Award.

Odd Squad is an organisation run entirely by children, which investigates peculiar problems and solves them with mathematics. It was created by Tim McKeon and Adam Peltzman and produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment with Fred Rogers Productions, airing on PBS Kids in the United States, TVOKids and CBC Kids in Canada, CBBC and BBC Two in the United Kingdom, and ABC in Australia.

Oscar was head scientist and built the gadgets field agents relied on. He was usually the one explaining how they worked — which, on a show teaching mathematics, meant he carried a good share of the actual instruction. He left the precinct after the second season to become president of the organisation's science division, which is where Odd Squad: The Movie picks him up.
